Do I need a Doctor’s referral?
As physiotherapy is a direct contact medical profession, you do not require a doctor’s referral to seek physiotherapy care in Canada.  Some insurance providers require a doctor’s referral in order to receive re-imbursement of assessment and treatment costs, so it is best to call them for clarification.   You will also require a doctor’s referral if you have been in a motor vehicle accident.
What kind of conditions do you treat at WAVE Physiotherapy?
Our physiotherapists are trained and experienced in treating both orthopedic and neurological problems including:

  • Low back pain
  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
  • Thoracic spine pain
  • Neck pain

How long will I have to wait to see a physiotherapist at Wave Physiotherapy?

We do our best to get you in as soon as possible. It is best to make your appointment well in advance to get a time and day that work best for your schedule.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies according to the severity and level of acuteness (how soon after initial injury) of your complaint.  We generally find the sooner one seeks rehabilitative care, the faster one is able to recover.  Most clients experience a positive change in their condition within 1-3 sessions.
Do you communicate with my Doctor, Massage Therapist or other members of my health team?
Once we have received our client’s consent, we communicate openly our findings and progress with all the members on our client’s health care team, from his or her doctor to his or her massage therapist.
Will my medical information and treatment records be handled confidentially?

Your information is treated confidentially and is protected by thePractice Standards for Physical Therapists in British Columbia and by the Privacy Information & Protection Act.

Does the government cover any of the costs of my treatment?

Since January 2000 the provincial government has been decreasing the amount of funding that is available for out-patient physiotherapy.  At the present time government funding is available for selected individuals.

Yes, there are two free parking spots designated to Wave Physio on the west side of parking lot behind the building (accessed from Pandosy) as well as any UNMARKED spots in that lot are for customers of our building.
